Prince George’s County police have charged three boys, between the ages of 13 and 15, with murder saying the boys killed a man so they could gain notoriety within a local gang.

Police said the boys are responsible for the fatal stabbing of 19-year-old Akinleye Warner, who was found dead Saturday on the Northwest Branch Hiker Biker Trail in Langley Park.

The three charged are Nelson Rivera-Anaya, 15, of Lanham; Angel Contreras, 14, of Silver Spring; and a 13-year-old boy who is not being named because he is being charged as a juvenile. They have all been charged with first-degree murder.

Police said the three boys attacked Warner after he went to the area for a drug deal. Warner was found suffering from multiple stab wounds on the park trail.

The three boys either currently attend or have ties to Buck Lodge Middle School in Adelphi. Police said all three are also gang members, though police did not name the gang they belonged to.
