ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) - The University of Michigan is moving forward with plans for a new $38.5 million garage and transportation operations center.

The Ann Arbor News reports (http://bit.ly/QPBfpk ) that the Transportation Services Building, planned for North Campus, will be a new full-service garage for the Ann Arbor school’s cars, vans, buses and trucks. It also will allow the school to buy bigger buses.

The plans were among items approved Thursday by the school’s Board of Regents. Other projects include a $4.3 million renovation to North Campus Research Building 14.

Also Thursday, the board gave approval for seeking alcohol sales at Michigan Stadium when the Big House hosts a preseason exhibition game Aug. 2 between world soccer powerhouses Manchester United and Real Madrid. A temporary liquor license will be sought from the state.
