BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - A training course for renovators handling lead will be offered May 29 by the LSU AgCenter.

The program will be held from 8:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. at the LaHouse Resource Center on the LSU campus.

The goal of the course is to aid contractors in completing the lead renovation, repair and painting requirements of the Environmental Protection Agency, according to AgCenter housing specialist Claudette Reichel.

The rules require contractors who disturb paint in pre-1978 homes and child-occupied facilities to be lead-certified to reduce the risk of lead contamination caused by common home renovation and repairs.

After completion of the course, participants will be eligible to take the certification test.

Fees and more information are available online at www.lsuagcenter.com/LaHouse on the seminars and events page.

LaHouse is at 2858 Gourrier Ave.
