LENOIR, N.C. (AP) - A bicycle race that took riders from Lenoir to the top of Grandfather Mountain is on hold for this year, and may not take place again.

The News-Topic of Lenoir reports (http://bit.ly/1jWgqEQ ) reports revenues had fallen for the Bridge Incredible Challenge after 25 years. The race’s sponsor, the Caldwell County Chamber of Commerce says it made just $5,000 in revenue last year as the number of riders kept dropping.

Race supporters hope to move it to June, when the cycling calendar is less crowded.

Already, a race called the Blowing Rock Fall Classic has taken over the Bridge Incredible Challenge’s date in September.
