MAGNOLIA, Miss. (AP) - Permit and grant applications show the same British company that’s building a wood pellet mill in Gloster is planning one in Magnolia.

Pike BioEnergy LLC shares directors and addresses with Amite BioEnergy LLC, which announced plans to build a 45-employee mill in Gloster in 2012.

The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality began seeking public comment on the construction plan Friday.

The Enterprise-Journal reports (http://bit.ly/1o6KAFF) Pike County supervisors are also seeking public comment plans to use federal community development money and a grant from the U.S. Economic Development Agency, because they would spend the money in a flood plain or wetlands, according to a notice from Southwest Mississippi Planning and Development District.

A unit of Drax Group PLC is already spending more than $200 million to build mills in Gloster and near Bastrop, Louisiana, each capable of producing 450,000 metric tons per year. The company is also building a 10-acre terminal on the banks of the Mississippi River in Port Allen, Louisiana, to load the pellets onto ships.
