PENSACOLA, Fla. (AP) - Officials say repairs on Pensacola’s Scenic Highway are expected to be finished by the end of June.

The road has been closed since it was damaged by flooding at the end of April.

The Pensacola News Journal ( ) reports sections of the highway are off limits to all vehicles. The Department of Transportation has security guards near the construction site around the clock to keep curious people from driving around barriers to get a closer look at two gaping holes.

A truck that fell into a hole in the road during the flooding has been removed. Workers say some 7,000 dump truck loads of dirt will be required to fill the 30-foot-deep craters.

Officials say some 50 workers are working seven days a week to complete the work.
