NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - The Music City Center, Nashville’s $623 million convention center that dominates six city blocks downtown, is celebrating its one-year anniversary Tuesday.

The 1.2 million-square-foot center opened with great fanfare last year as Mayor Karl Dean announced that the city had met its goal of 1 million hotel rooms being booked even before the facility had opened.

Tuesday’s celebration will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. CDT on the Fifth Avenue Terrace, where cake and refreshments will be served.
