COLORADO SPRING, Colorado (AP) - USA Wrestling has hired Matt Lindland as its new national Greco-Roman coach.

The sanctioning body announced Tuesday that Lindland will succeed Steve Fraser, who coached the Greco-Roman program for nearly 20 years.

Lindland won a silver medal at the Sydney Olympics in 2000 and took silver at the world championships in 2001. He later became a successful athlete and coach in mixed martial arts before coaching the 2013 U.S. Greco-Roman World Team in Budapest.

Lindland says his goal is to make the American Greco-Roman team the best in the world.

The U.S. failed to win a medal in Greco-Roman competition at the recent London Olympics.
