President Obama could deal with the Veterans Affairs Department patient care crisis that’s rocked national headlines in recent days, but he won’t because he’s “lazy” and lacks will, said Sarah Palin during a recent interview on Fox News.

Mrs. Palin suggested the president’s laziness stems from his inability and lack of motivation to hold anyone accountable for the VA scandal, Mediaite reported.

She made the statements to Sean Hannity on Fox News, in answer to his question about why the president doesn’t seem to ever hold anyone accountable for administration scandals.

First, Mrs. Palin clarified that the VA scandal — in which it’s been revealed that government-run hospitals for veterans have purposely stymied patient care — was the president’s fault due to his leadership role.

“It starts at the top,” she said. “If you have a commander in chief who isn’t engaged … [and] he has just been engaging in rhetoric of those under his charge, the troops,” then nothing will happen in terms of accountability.

She then said Mr. Obama knew of problems at the VA years ago, but “let that go by the wayside.” Her prediction of his actions to come: Nothing.

“Nothing’s going to happen while Obama’s in charge of our VA,” Mrs. Palin said. “This big, ineffective, inefficient government that he’s grown will just perpetuate the problem.”

And when Mr. Hannity asked why, she responded: “A couple of reasons. When you hold someone accountable, it takes energy and resources and Barack Obama is lazy. … And he still doesn’t see what the problem is: It’s government. So he will continue to do what he does … because the media isn’t doing its job, holding him accountable.”
