MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) - Sean Covich has been named head coach of West Virginia’s resurrected men’s golf program.

Athletic director Oliver Luck announced Covich’s hiring Thursday. Covich was an assistant coach at Mississippi State the past three seasons.

The golf team returns in fall 2015 as West Virginia satisfies a Big 12 Conference requirement of a minimum of six men’s sports. Men’s golf was a varsity sport at WVU from 1933 to 1982.
