BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - Gov. Bobby Jindal has signed two bills into law that will expand gun rights for Louisiana residents.

NOLA.com/The Times-Picayune reports (https://bit.ly/1nBVemG ) one measure will allow people with concealed handgun permits to carry their weapons into restaurants that serve alcohol, but make most of their money from food sales.

The second measure will expand the “stand your ground” law in Louisiana, closing a loophole that would not allow self-defense as a lawful reason for harming - but not killing - an intruder or a carjacker.

The new statutes, signed Friday, go into effect Aug. 1.
