WATFORD CITY, N.D. (AP) - A person critically injured when a tornado struck a worker camp in the western North Dakota oil patch has been identified as a 15-year-old girl from out of state.

McKenzie County Emergency Manager Jerry Samuelson says the girl was visiting an aunt and uncle in the camp. He’s not releasing her name or saying where she’s from, at the request of her family.

Samuelson says the girl is in intensive care with a head injury. Trinity Health spokeswoman Mary Muhlbradt says the girl’s family doesn’t want details of her condition to be released.

The tornado hit the camp Monday night, damaging or destroying several trailers there. Eight other people were treated at a Watford City hospital for lesser injuries.
