MIDDLETOWN, Conn. (AP) - Five people have escaped a house fire in Middletown.

Firefighters say a propane tank exploded near the back of the home at about 4 a.m. on Friday.

Crews from Middletown, Westfield and Durham fought the fire at the two-family home on Cooley Avenue, which is just off Main Street.

No injuries were reported. Fire officials say five residents from the two apartments, including a baby, escaped unharmed.

Firefighters closed several streets in the area as they fought the blaze.
