In the real world, are there individuals who incorrectly think the same old solutions will always work? Are there quite often situations in which we can guess at a possible solution, but we think the solution will do more harm than good? My answers to these questions are yes and yes.

In many ways, President Obama’s diplomatic solutions toward Russia and Syria have reached these points of wasting time. None of his “solutions” to these ongoing problems has been new. What happened to “Never take your eye off of the ball”? Hasn’t the Obama administration taken its eye off the ball in Iran, Iraq and Afghanistan, not to mention in other situations?

Those of us average citizens who have never seriously considered runs for president should tell Mr. Obama, “You asked to be president, and no one ever said it was going to be easy.”

If the United States and her troops weren’t already so terribly war-weary, I think the solutions to most of these situations would be to put up a serious military front. I view these solutions as akin to the situation during the Cuban missile crisis, when President John F. Kennedy had to draw a red line against the former Soviet Union. Neither Russia’s Vladimir Putin nor the heads of all of these other counties will ever take seriously this road of diplomacy, which has run out of asphalt.
