BETHEL, Alaska (AP) - The mayor of Bethel says an investigation has confirmed city employees committed code and policy violations.

KYUK reports (http://is.gd/ZJYyzw ) Mayor Joe Klekja (CLAY’-kuh) the violations related to procurement, nepotism, credit card usage, leave and policies covering personnel and travel and training.

City Manager Lee Foley was put on administrative leave two weeks ago because of the $40,000 investigation. His status did not change after the council came out of a three-hour executive session Monday. Attempts to reach Foley weren’t immediately successful.

Klekja says the council will take remedial actions, and is looking at hiring a human resources director or procurement officer.

City officials say the document prepared for the council by the hired attorney will not be made public.
