Former Senate president leaving Senate in June

- Associated Press - Tuesday, May 6, 2014

CONCORD, N.H. (AP) - Former New Hampshire Senate President Peter Bragdon has been reappointed executive director of a quasi-governmental organization and is leaving the Senate next month.

The HealthTrust Inc. announced Bragdon's reappointment Tuesday and said he will focus the organization's efforts over the next two years on responding to changes in health care that affect local governments, such as the Affordable Care Act.

The Republican Bragdon from Milford relinquished control as president in September amid criticism that the job posed a conflict of interest. The Legislative Ethics Committee cleared him of using his position to win the $180,000 job and he informally resolved two other issues earlier this year.

Bragdon is finishing his 10th year in the Senate. He also served two years in the House.
