VERNON, Conn. (AP) - Vernon officials have placed a memorial in a local park to honor a 13-year-old girl who went missing 40 years ago.

Lisa White was last seen in Talcott Park on Nov. 1, 1974, near where officials have placed the memorial rock.

Saturday’s unveiling comes just weeks after state and local authorities announced they have created a task force to take another look the disappearance of White and two other girls.

Debra Spickler went missing in 1968 from Henry Park in Vernon, and Janice Pockett disappeared in 1973 while riding her bike in nearby Tolland.

White and Debra Spickler were 13 when they were last seen, and Janice Pockett was 7.

Officials are offering $150,000 in rewards for information leading to arrests and convictions in the cases.
