FARMINGDALE, N.Y. (AP) - Police say a husband and wife were tied up and the husband was pistol-whipped during a robbery on Long Island.

Nassau County police tell Newsday (http://nwsdy.li/1wnt4Cg ) that the woman opened her door in Farmingdale on Friday expecting trick-or-treaters.

But instead she was confronted by masked robbers, two them armed with guns.

Police say the robbers pistol-whipped the husband after he refused an order to sit down.

Police say the husband and wife were then bound at the hands and feet with duct tape.

The couple’s 2-year-old son was not tied up and was not harmed.

Police say the woman freed herself and called 911 while the robbers were ransacking the house.

Police say a total of five robbers fled the scene. The husband was treated for head lacerations.
