WHAT’S AT STAKE

North Texas, coming off its best September in 20 years, can get to 3-2 through five games for the first time since returning to FBS competition in 1995. The Mean Green are also trying to get to 3-1 in non-conference play for the first time since 1990.

KEY MATCHUP

RB Tevin Coleman and Indiana’s rushing offense against North Texas defense. The Hoosiers have rushed for more than 200 yards in every game this season. The Mean Green have held three consecutive opponents under 100 yards rushing for the first time since 2003.

PLAYERS TO WATCH

Indiana: Coleman has six consecutive 100-yard rushing games, the FBS’s longest streak, and is the national leader with 172.8 yards per game.

North Texas: Redshirt freshman QB Dajon Williams took over as the starter in the last game, a 77-3 win over Nicholls State. He completed 11 of 14 passes for 176 yards with three touchdowns and no interceptions. He also ran four times for 68 yards and two more scores.

North Texas is one of only seven FBS teams to score on every trip inside the 20 this season, with 11 touchdowns and two field goals. … Indiana followed its 31-27 upset victory at then-No. 18 Missouri with a 37-15 loss last week at home in the Big Ten opener against Maryland. … North Texas is playing on the road against a Big Ten school for the first time. The Mean Green’s 24-21 win over Indiana was in 2011 in Denton, in the first season of Apogee Stadium. … That was coach Dan McCarney’s first win as the Mean Green coach.
