LAKE ANDES, S.D. (AP) - A Lake Andes man is facing two charges after authorities accused him of assaulting a pregnant woman and keeping her in his car against her will.

The Daily Republic (http://bit.ly/1uFnyLU ) reports that 32-year-old Keeler Hopkins has been charged with aggravated assault and second-degree kidnapping.

Authorities say Hopkins slapped the victim in the face and elbowed her in the head at least seven times. They say Hopkins then pushed her back into his vehicle and forced her to drive around with him.

It is unclear whether Hopkins has an attorney. Each charge carries a maximum penalty of 15 years in prison and a $30,000 fine.
