ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - State environmental and parks officials are holding public hearings on the 2014 State Open Space Conservation Plan this week.

The plan updates the existing 2009 plan and guides state Environmental Protection Fund investments in open space preservation. The 300-page document is posted on the Department of Environmental Conservation website (http://on.ny.gov/1wrDZL8 ), along with times and locations of public meetings being held to discuss the plan Tuesday through Thursday.

Public comments will be accepted until Dec. 17.

The plan recommends open space conservation for recreation, protecting natural resources, addressing climate change, and promoting a healthy public and vibrant economy.

It includes 137 priority projects identified by nine regional advisory committees.
