BELCOURT, N.D. (AP) - The Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa is holding its primary election.

The Minot Daily News reports (http://bit.ly/11WyvN3 ) that five people are running for tribal chairman, including incumbent Richard McCloud. The top two vote-getters in Tuesday’s primary move on to the general election in two weeks.

Tribal members also are voting on Tribal Council races. There are 44 candidates running for a total of eight seats. The top three vote-getters in each of four districts move on to the Nov. 4 election. Each district has two seats on the council.
