MORRISTOWN, N.J. (AP) - Officials have charged a Garfield police officer with assault by auto after he crashed into a building, injuring a passenger in his vehicle.

The Morris County Prosecutor’s Office says 22-year-old Patrick Sajewicz was driving his 2014 Infinity while intoxicated when it crashed into a building on Main Street in Chester last Wednesday.

Sajewicz was arrested on Tuesday.

He’s also charged with reckless driving and causing property destruction.

It’s not known if he has a lawyer.
