NEW YORK (AP) - Authorities have arrested the mother of a four-year-old girl in connection to her death at a Queens homeless shelter.

Police said Friday that Latoya Curry, 35, faces a murder charge.

The child, identified as Linayjah Meraldo, was found unconscious and unresponsive just before 1 p.m. Thursday at the Briarwood Family Residence on 134th Street. Her death was deemed a homicide by the city Medical Examiner’s Office.
