GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (AP) - A Grand Junction man has been arrested after authorities said he killed his friend in a drunken-driving all-terrain vehicle accident in the desert north of Grand Junction last month.

William Baca made his first appearance in court this week after he was accused of vehicular homicide and driving under the influence of alcohol. He is free from the Mesa County Jail on a $10,000 bond.

Authorities say Baca was driving an ATV on an Interstate-70 frontage road on Sept. 6 with his friend Ernie Farris as a passenger when the ATV went off the road and rolled over.

The Grand Junction Daily Sentinel reports (http://tinyurl.com/m94qr9p ) Baca was thrown from the ATV during the accident and Farris was killed.
