MERRIMACK, N.H. (AP) - The Merrimack town clerk’s office is cautioning people that notifications they’ve received about absentee ballots are not official and misleading.

The clerk’s office says voters are getting mailers from campaigns or political parties that appear to be a request for an absentee ballot application. The clerk does not mail or solicit absentee voters.

The concern is that people may think that filling out the form will allow them to vote by absentee ballot and that may not be true.

If a voter doesn’t meet the requirement to vote by absentee, the vote could be challenged.

Election Day is Nov. 4.
