EVANSDALE, Iowa (AP) - That cougar sighted in Evansdale?

It’s probably a house cat.

Iowa Department of Natural Resources wildlife biologist Jason Auel studied photos a woman took while walking near the Cedar River on Tuesday and determined the image was of a regular cat.

Auel told KWWL-TV (http://bit.ly/1DHMtQu) he made his determination by examining the height of the grass relative to the cat’s stomach and the animal’s tail size.

He says, “I definitely think it’s a house cat.”

Cougars aren’t native to Iowa but Auel says they sometimes wander through the area.
