VALDOSTA, Ga. (AP) - Police say an attacker slashed a woman with a knife at a homeless camp in Valdosta.

The Valdosta Daily Times reports (http://bit.ly/1yv8Ohj ) the assault happened early Friday at a wooded camp used by homeless people. Police said a 48-year-old old woman was arguing with other camp residents when one of them slashed her arm with a large knife.

Valdosta police Capt. Bobbi McGraw said officers arrested 54-year-old Coye Boyette after the woman identified him as her attacker. Police did not immediately say what charges he would face and it was not immediately known if Boyette had an attorney.

The woman with the knife wound was treated and released at a local hospital.
