HAMBURG, Wis. (AP) - Authorities say a body discovered in the Town of Hamburg is that of a 74-year-old man who had been missing for nearly two weeks.

Goudeniso Gayton went missing Oct. 12 while visiting the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe in La Crosse.

His body was found Saturday in a wooded area about a half mile from where his image was captured on a trail camera.

There was no immediate word on his cause of death.

Gayton is from Mexico and was visiting family in the U.S. He went to the shrine with family members. His grandson, Alejandro Vega-Gayton, told the La Crosse Tribune that Gayton’s disappearance was a mystery. Vega-Gayton says his grandfather didn’t want to enter the shrine, and when the family came back outside, he was gone.
