STERLINGTON, La. (AP) - A subdivision under development in the Sterlington area may be annexed by the town.

The Bastrop Daily Enterprise reports (http://bit.ly/1rquXHT) the Town Council has agreed to enter into a cooperative agreement with Quail Realty Inc. for a new subdivision and commercial corridor that would be built off U.S. Highway 165.

Mayor Vern Breland says the project’s first phase would include at least 200 acres and about 300 homes in a gated community.

The agreement requires the developer to install infrastructure, then formally apply to the council for annexation.
