NEW YORK (AP) - New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio’s administration says an investigation concerning a top aide has concluded.

Rachel Noerdlinger (NOORD’-ling-uhr) is the chief of staff to Chirlane McCray, the mayor’s wife.

Noerdlinger came under scrutiny this week after it was revealed that her boyfriend, Hassaun McFarlan, pleaded guilty to a manslaughter charge 21 years ago. The news website DNAInfo also reported that he called police “pigs” on his now-removed Facebook page.

A probe by the city’s Department of Investigation found Friday that Noerdlinger did not disclose during her background check that she was living with McFarlan. But it did not recommend that disciplinary action be taken.

The Department of Investigation did not elaborate on its findings.

Noerdlinger has not commented on the matter.
