An Iraqi Mi-35 attack helicopter was shot down by the Islamic State group, officials said Friday.

While conducting missions over the Northern Iraqi towns of Beiji and al Senniyah, members of the terrorist groups fired a rocket launcher at the Mi-35, Sky News reported Friday. The pilot and co-pilot both perished.

Two officials speaking on condition of anonymity also confirmed the downed helicopter to The Associated Press.

The location of the attack took place roughly 130 miles outside Baghdad, where the Islamic State group is fighting for control of the nation’s oil assets.

U.S. Central Command also carried out its own airstrikes in Sinjar and Fallujah over Thursday and Friday, AP reported.
