D.C.-area baseball fans won’t have to worry about staying up late on a work night for the Nationals’ potential postseason openers.

The master playoff schedule released Thursday by MLB has the opening games of both National League division series set for Friday, Oct. 3, with Game 2 the following day. The teams would then be off before traveling to the other city for Game 3 on Oct. 6 — the same day the Redskins host the Seahawks on “Monday Night Football.”

Game 4 would be Oct. 7 and a decisive Game 5 on Oct. 9. Starting times for all games are still to be determined depending on the matchups.

The Nationals entered Thursday with the best record in the National League. Should they maintain that distinction, their division series would be against the winner of the NL wild card game, which is to be played Oct. 1.

Looking further down the road, the NLCS will begin Saturday, Oct. 11 and the World Series will start Oct. 21 at the American League champion, with games in the NL city set for Oct. 24-26.

The AL wild card game will be held Tuesday, Sept. 30, and both AL division series will open Oct. 2. The ALCS begins Oct. 10.
