FARGO, N.D. (AP) - Police say a body found outside a recreational vehicle store in Moorhead, Minnesota, on Tuesday is that of a missing North Dakota college student.

The remains of North Dakota State University student Thomas Gregory Bearson were discovered shortly before noon at an industrial park, Moorhead Police Lt. Tory Jacobson said in a news release late Tuesday.

Fargo Police Chief Keith Ternes said Bearson was last seen at a party about 3 a.m. Saturday in Fargo.

Jacobson said the body was transported to the Ramsey County Medical Examiners Office. The cause of death has yet to be determined and no suspects have been identified.

NDSU reported on its website Sunday that the 18-year-old Bearson, a freshman nursing student, was missing and asked the public for information on his whereabouts.

Jacobson said the investigation into Bearson’s death is a collaboration between the Moorhead Police Department, Fargo Police Department and the NDSU campus police.

Bearson, of Sartell, Minnesota, was a standout basketball player at Sartell High School. The St. Cloud Times reported that those who know Bearson described him as a naturally gifted athlete who was the go-to guy when his team needed a big play or crucial shot.

“Tom wasn’t the most vocal person on the court but you could tell he had a confidence about him. He led by example,” Coach Marcus Oistad said. “He wasn’t going to give a ‘rah rah’ speech, but when he stepped on the court he was a gamer.”

A prayer service was scheduled for Tuesday evening in Sartell.
