Delaware Gov. Jack Markell was trying to tweet about his visit to an elementary school to announce a new program for disadvantaged children — but an attached photo said otherwise.

The tweeted message from the Democrat’s account included an accompanying picture of a blond dressed in what appeared to be a black leather bondage collar and gear.

One of Mr. Markell’s followers picked up quickly on the discrepancy between the tweet’s text and the photo. The text read: “At Warner E.S. in #WilmDE to announce new initiative to support many of #netDE’s most disadvantaged students PHOTO: ow.ly/i/6M3N.”

The astute follower, who took a screen grab of the photo, wrote in response: “Ummm … Maybe she’s a teacher?”

The tweet was re-posted with the intended photo and the Democratic governor’s office promised in a follow-up post that the incident was being investigated.

“An inappropriate photo was inadvertently sent out earlier. We are looking into how this occurred but apologize to anyone who was offenders,” the account tweeted.
