KANSAS STATE (1-0, 0-0 Big 12) at IOWA STATE (0-1, 0-0), noon (Fox Sports 1)

Line: Kansas State by 12.

Series Record: Iowa State leads 49-44-4.

Kansas State will look to build momentum with a huge showdown at home against No. 5 Auburn looming on Sept. 18. Iowa State needs a good showing after being embarrassed by FCS school North Dakota State last weekend.

Kansas State’s wide receivers vs. Iowa State’s secondary. The Wildcats are deep and talented on the edge, and Jake Waters is one of the best quarterbacks in the Big 12. The Cyclones will likely struggle to get much pressure on Waters, so they’ll need their cornerbacks and safeties to make plays.

Kansas State: Waters. He grew up in Council Bluffs, Iowa, as a fan of the Cyclones, but Iowa State didn’t show much interest in him coming out of high school. Waters will finally get his shot at showing the Cyclones what they missed out on.

Iowa State: RB Aaron Wimberly is supposed to lead the Cyclones rushing attack in 2014. But he had just 38 yards on nine carries as Iowa State fell behind and leaned heavily on the passing game in a 34-14 loss to North Dakota State.

Bill Snyder is 18-4 against the Cyclones, while Iowa State coach Paul Rhoads is winless in five tries against the Wildcats … Kansas State only punted once in last week’s 55-16 dismantling of Stephen F. Austin … Iowa State freshman wide receiver Allen Lazard, whose only catch in the loss to the Bison went for a team-high 48 yards, is expected to see more playing time now that star Quenton Bundrage is out for the season with a knee injury … The Wildcats ran for four touchdowns last week, including two from Waters.
