MASHANTUCKET, Conn. (AP) - The union representing the Foxwoods Resort Casino’s table-games dealers says it has settled a grievance over the casino’s firing of its former president.

The Day of New London reports (https://bit.ly/1OTW2RW) that Local 212 of the United Auto Workers announced the resolution on its website Friday, saying the two sides avoided arbitration.

Union president Andrea Goodrich said the parties agreed to keep the specifics confidential, but that her predecessor, Billy Shea, chose not to seek reinstatement. The union had said Shea’s firing was “unjust.”

Richard Moskowitz, Foxwoods’ executive director of labor relations, declined to comment Friday on an internal employee relations matter.

The local has about 1,500 members. It will soon choose a new vice president and bargaining committee to negotiate a new contract with Foxwoods. The current contract expires at the end of the year.
