FAIR LAWN, N.J. (AP) - Nine people were injured when a sport utility vehicle collided with a jitney bus that was stopped on the shoulder of a northern New Jersey roadway.

Fair Lawn police say the crash occurred Monday morning near Broadway and 34th Street. They say the jitney driver had stopped to load and unload passengers when the SUV struck it from behind.

The drivers of both vehicles and seven passengers on the jitney were being treated at hospitals. Most of the injuries were considered minor, and none appeared to be life-threatening.

The SUV driver sustained a neck injury, while the jitney driver had neck and back injuries.

No charges have been filed so far, but the investigation is ongoing.
