TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - A southern Arizona man has been sentenced to 12 years in prison after pleading guilty to voluntary manslaughter in the choking death of his 19-year-old girlfriend.

A federal judge in Tucson sentenced 30-year-old Michael Henry Flores on Monday in the August 2011 killing.

According to court documents, the victim was killed outside Flores’ residence near Sells on the Tohono (toh-HO’-noh) O’odham Nation after an argument.

The documents identified the victim by the initials “MJM.”
