WEST POINT, Va. (AP) - Virginia State Police have rescued a Dominion Virginia Power employee and two contract workers from the Pamunkey River in King William County.

State police spokeswoman Corinne Geller says a helicopter crew rescued the three men Tuesday night near West Point.

Geller says the men had been doing maintenance work on power lines when the equipment they were using sank into the swampy terrain.

After the rescue, the helicopter returned to a nearby airport where the men’s medical conditions were check and the three were released.
