PALM DESERT, Calif. (AP) - Authorities say a Los Angeles finance executive found dead in a pond at a Palm Desert resort earlier this year died from drowning.

The Desert Sun (http://desert.sn/1r9YprF) reports Wednesday that the Riverside County coroner made the determination in the case of 33-year-old Omar Meza.

Investigators reported that Meza was drunk at the time of his death, but his blood content level was not released.

Meza, a vice president for AIG Financial Distributors, went missing for about a week after checking into the J.W. Marriott resort on a work trip in January. His body was eventually found by dive teams in the golf course pond next to the hotel.
