MADISON, Wis. (AP) - Authorities say an armed homeowner helped them apprehend two men in the midst of a crime spree in Madison.

The Madison Police Department says the homeowner confronted the duo suspected in at least two burglaries after they broke into the man’s garage Friday morning. The department says one of suspects fled, but the homeowner was able to disarm the other suspect and hold him at gunpoint until officers arrived.

The two men, ages 19 and 20, are accused of pointing a gun at a 90-year-old woman while robbing her home of jewelry about 6:30 a.m. Friday. Police say the men stole electronics and cash from a 22-year-old woman’s home about an hour later.

They were arrested about 10 a.m. Friday after the homeowner’s wife alerted authorities.

Police will seek charges against the men.
