SOUTH HAVEN, Mich. (AP) - A public meeting is planned about increased federal oversight for Palisades nuclear power plant in southwestern Michigan.

The meeting takes place Thursday evening at Beach Haven Event Center in the South Haven area.

The meeting comes after the Nuclear Regulatory Commission in February announced a final ruling about a violation related to how some workers’ radiation doses were monitored and calculated.

The violation was considered to be of low to moderate safety significance and officials say additional time on inspections is planned. The commission said a radiation measuring device wasn’t properly positioned while plant parts were replaced early last year.

The plant in Van Buren County’s Covert Township on the shore of Lake Michigan is owned by New Orleans-based Entergy.
