A Veterans Affairs medical facility in rural southern Ohio was among 75 VA clinics and hospitals nationally with the highest percentages of patients waiting at least 31 days for care.

An Associated Press review of VA data on wait times for 940 of the agency’s outpatient clinics and hospitals shows the Portsmouth VA Clinic ranked 73rd nationally and led Ohio with nearly 5.7 percent of its appointments delayed past the VA’s goal for seeing patients within 30 days. The data show that Ohio’s wait-time percentages weren’t as high as those in some other states, but nearly 26,000 of more than 1.1 million appointments were delayed at least a month.

Data are listed according to the facility; city, when not part of facility title; type of facility; total appointments completed; care delayed at least 31 days; percent delayed at least 31 days; care delayed 31-60 days; care delayed 61-90 days; care delayed more than 90 days. The facilities include community-based outpatient clinics (CBOC), VA medical centers (VAMC) and independent outpatient clinics (IOC).
