ROCHESTER, N.Y. (AP) - A 39-year-old man and his teenage stepson have been charged in connection with the fatal shooting of a man outside a community center in Rochester.

Police say Adalberto Marrero-Padilla is charged with second-degree murder and 17-year-old Josue Colon is charged with gang assault.

Officials say 23-year-old Jonathan Padilla of Rochester was gunned down shortly before 2 p.m. Monday in the parking lot at the David F. Gantt Community Center on North Street.

Marrero-Padilla is Colon’s stepfather. They’re not related to the victim. They both pleaded not guilty during a court appearance Wednesday. Their lawyers were to be assigned Thursday.

Authorities say when the shooting occurred the community center was full of children who were playing inside because it was raining.

Officials say they’re expected to make more arrests as the investigation continues.
