CASPER, Wyo. (AP) - The Natrona County airport saw more passengers in July than in any other month since 1988.

The Casper Star-Tribune reports (http://bit.ly/1IINXgy ) that the Casper/Natrona County International Airport recorded more than 10,000 people boarding its planes last month. The record number marks an 8.7 percent increase over last year.

Airport officials say they have only passed the 10,000-passenger mark in a month twice in 27 years, the last time being October. The record comes after Sheridan County cut commercial service and as Fremont County struggles with reliable flights.

Passenger numbers at the Casper airport have been unstable this year, with February through May’s numbers dropping below those of 2014, before spiking in June and July.
