INDEPENDENCE, Mo. (AP) - Independence-area law enforcement officers arrested 25 people after city health inspectors investigated two motels.

The sweep on Wednesday at a Budget Inn Motel and the Sports Stadium Inn Motel led to the Budget Inn’s closing because of health code violations.

The Independence Examiner reports (http://bit.ly/1Jl6Mo4 ) the sweep occurred after authorities received several complaints of criminal activity at the motels. Police spokesman Tom Gentry says Independence police have responded to about 300 calls per motel since January of this year.
