PENSACOLA, Fla. (AP) - Officials say five Florida Panhandle high school students have been taken to local hospitals after their school bus was hit by a dump truck and flipped on its side.

Escambia County School District Superintendent Malcom Thomas says none of the injuries appeared to be life-threatening. Thomas says 16 students from Pensacola High School were on the bus late Thursday afternoon when it was hit less than a mile from the school.

Thomas says medical crews evaluated all of the students and determined that five needed additional treatment.
