LARAMIE, Wyo. (AP) - A San Diego-based manufacturer is planning to move its production operation from China to Laramie.

The Laramie Boomerang reports (http://bit.ly/1KSi82Y) the plans were announced Wednesday by Tungsten Heavy Powder and Parts, a company that supplies tungsten components for use in the military, medical and industrial engineering industries.

Company owner Joe Sery said in a news release that parts made in China and used by military weapon and armament manufacturers will now be produced in Laramie. About 25 people are expected to be employed at the facility.

Laramie Chamber Business Alliance president and CEO Dan Furphy said the city was among 13 communities statewide vying to be chosen.

Furphy said Laramie is technology-oriented, and adding tungsten manufacturing will diversify the economy.

It’s unclear when the company will begin production in Laramie.
