SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (AP) - A Schenectady man pleaded guilty to breaking into two area homes and committing a sexual act in the presence of children last year.

The Daily Gazette of Schenectady reports (http://bit.ly/1KoXJa4 ) 23-year-old Luis Vargas Jr. pleaded guilty Thursday to charges of second-degree burglary as a sexually motivated felony and felony attempted sexual abuse.

Officials say Vargas is expected to be sentenced to serve 15 years in prison and will have to register as a sex offender.

Prosecutors say Vargas entered a home on June 17, 2014 through an open window and masturbated next to an 11-year-old victim while other small children were sleeping close by.

They say Vargas broke into another residence on July 11, 2014 and masturbated in the presence of a 9-year-old victim.

Vargas was arrested for the crimes in May.
